Steven F. Gonzalez

Born: May 26, 1983

SpartX Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer Steven F. Gonzalez, comes from a strong background both in sales and operations management. He gained this experience while working in his home state of California for a national corporation.

Steve grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles. There, he found the entrepreneurial spirit early, selling his candy to fellow classmates while still in grade school. Truth be told, this became quite the enterprise for young Gonzalez. It was not long before he was filling his backpack with candy and the cigar box beneath his bed with cash.

Steve remained in California attending high school there, but when it came time for college he decided to head to the Northeast, over 3,000 miles way from home.

While at New England College, Steve majored in Business Administration focusing on entrepreneurship. This area of study awoke a passion in him.

It was at New England College Steve met up with his future business partner and fellow SpartX Co-Founder Cutter Mitchell. The two, by chance, became roommates before ever knowing each other, though it was not long before the two became good friends.

This relationship was the building blocks for the innovation SpartX is founded on.

It was in their senior year, the duo stepped out into the world of business together. The college’s business department took over an ailing local magazine and in turn handed it over to a select few students to run. Steve and Cutter were among these chosen few.

The two business partners worked to make the magazine profitable once again. At the end of the year the entire sales team was able to start the publication on the road to recovery, ensuring its continued success even today.

Steve eventually took the skills he learned promoting Edge Sports Magazine to a career with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. While Steve’s skills were recognized by many, having been scooped up by a head hunter, he chose Enterprise because of the opportunity they offered in honing his sales and management skills. There he quickly rose up through the ranks, becoming a top earner for the company and a rising star in the premier sales devision of the company.

But he kept coming back to the idea that developed between he and Cutter over a few glasses of scotch and the novel idea of networking. Like Cutter, Steve became focused on the idea behind SpartX. He realized that helping people to network effectively, improving their careers and lives, was too powerful to ignore.

So SpartX was born. Not right away of course, but the two set out on the path they began years prior. It was on this road to a revolutionary way of thinking that their paths crossed with SpartX’s founding Chief Technology Officer, Gilbert Zaragoza.

Gilbert and Steve had grown up together, attending the same school and becoming involved with many of the same sports. Personal history not withstanding, this Stanford graduate was an excellent addition to the team, bringing the technological know-how needed.

They brought one more key piece of personnel, Cutter’s brother S. Hayes Mitchell as their Public Relations Coordinator, and the founding SpartX team was complete.
